This first campaign is intentionally unglamorous: nonprofit formation, the federal 501(c)(3) application, registrations, banking, bookkeeping, and the basic administrative foundation that has to exist before Watchfire can pursue land, grants, partnerships, and construction.

The first dollars establish Watchfire properly. As the organization grows, support expands into the physical pieces that make a durable rural community possible.

Why this matters

A roof can keep you dry. It cannot make you belong.

Too many veterans make it through the crisis and still come home to isolation. Watchfire is built around the part that often comes next: a home of your own, people who know your name, useful work, family life, and a reason to be needed.

We are not trying to build an institution around veterans. We are trying to build ordinary, capable rural communities where veterans and their families can put down roots and take care of one another.

This fundraiser won’t build the first house. It helps build the organization that can.
